My Snookums, I have to confess,
I renew your prescription every day.
I fill your prescription to ensure my long-term success.
No word of a lie, I am so happy to say…
I sincerely love you for making an honest man of me.
And I want to dispense enough of your medication,
To share the profound truth of what's in my heart.
So, I’m giving you an unlimited refill of your prescription.
Ohh, I recall our first date like it was yesterday,
You said, “Tell me about you.”
So, cliché, I said, “Well, I like walks on the beach.”
All while knowing this wasn’t exactly true.
You pointed to the note you had set on the table.
Curious, I wondered if this was all part of a plan.
Then I read it, and I realized it was a prescription.
“Love --- To be filled by one honest man.”
Immediately, I could see it in your eyes,
That you knew what I said wasn't true.
Oh my, I said. I don’t know why I lied,
I guess I thought I needed to impress you.
I can still hear your answer.
This prescription can't be filled by a pharmacy of lies.
So, let's try again, and honestly tell me who you are,
Just know, lies are something I despise.
Well, your prescription was just what the doctor ordered,
As I lay there that night, I formed a new conviction.
By telling me to be truthful, you set me free to be me.
And I bless the day I first read your prescription.
I sincerely love you for making an honest man of me.
And I want to dispense enough of your medication,
To share the profound truth of what's in my heart.
So, I’m giving you an unlimited refill of your prescription.
And Snookums, I was wondering ---
Is now a good time to take your medication?
Honestly,
I have this deep need to fill your prescription.
