What is SongwriterLink?
SongwriterLink is a publishing house for lyricists and songwriters. It gives your original lyrics a beautiful, permanent home — a dedicated page with your name, a publication date, and a record of authorship that lasts.
Think of it as a literary publisher for song lyrics. Not a social network, not a marketplace. Just your work, presented well, permanently.
Who is SongwriterLink for?
SongwriterLink is for lyricists — anyone who writes words for songs. Pop, folk, gospel, musical theatre, country, R&B — every genre is welcome, as long as the work is original.
It's also a place where singers and recording artists can discover quality, original material.
Can SongwriterLink help me find a composer or music partner?
Not directly. SongwriterLink is a publishing platform — a place to publish your words beautifully, protect your authorship, and make your lyrics discoverable by singers and artists who are actively looking for original material. If the right person comes across your work here, that connection can happen naturally.
What it isn’t is an active matching service. We don’t pair lyricists with composers or producers. For hands-on collaboration search, verse-chorus.com is worth exploring alongside us.
But if you’d like a proper home for your lyrics — somewhere they’re presented with care, timestamped, and open to discovery — your Elton might already be out there looking.
Is SongwriterLink free?
Joining is free. Free accounts can browse the full lyric catalogue, save up to 5 private drafts in The Vault, and build a public profile page.
Publishing your lyrics publicly requires a membership at £25/year (approx. $32 USD). A membership also unlocks unlimited Vault drafts and direct messaging with other members.
Is SongwriterLink a collaboration or co-writer matching site?
No. SongwriterLink was originally built as a collaboration platform, similar to sites like verse-chorus.com, and you may still find old articles describing it that way. It has since changed entirely. Today, SongwriterLink is a publishing platform for lyricists — a place to publish, protect, and showcase original lyrics, not to find or message collaborators for new projects.
How does the submission check work?
Every lyric submitted to SongwriterLink goes through two checks before it goes live. First, a plagiarism check against a database of existing published content. Second, an AI detection check to confirm the work is human-written.
If either check flags a submission above a set threshold, it is held for manual review rather than published automatically. You’ll be notified if your submission is held, and the vast majority of genuine original work passes without issue.
Members can also report any lyric they believe to be plagiarised. We take every report seriously and act on it promptly.
Do you check for AI-generated lyrics?
Yes. In addition to the plagiarism check, every submitted lyric is run through an AI detection check before publication. SongwriterLink is a home for human writers. Lyrics that are substantially or wholly AI-generated are not accepted for publication.
If a submission is flagged, it is held for manual review rather than automatically rejected — we apply judgement, not just an algorithm.
Why does SongwriterLink check for AI content?
Because the writers on this platform are here because their words are theirs. A lyric carries the experience, perspective, and voice of the person who wrote it — that’s what makes it valuable to a singer looking for material.
Accepting AI-generated content would undermine the trust that every member has placed in the platform and in each other.
Does SongwriterLink sell lyrics?
No. SongwriterLink is not a marketplace. Lyrics are published here as a record of authorship — not listed for sale. If a singer or artist wants to approach a lyricist about their work, they can do so directly through the platform's messaging feature.
Who can read the lyrics?
Published lyrics are publicly visible — anyone can browse the catalogue and read the work, with or without an account. A free account lets you save private drafts in The Vault. Publishing your lyrics publicly requires a membership (£25/year).
Can I delete my lyrics or my account?
You can unpublish a lyric at any time from your account. Account deletion is available from your settings page. If you choose to delete your account, your published lyrics will be removed from the public catalogue.
What is The Vault?
The Vault is your private creative workspace, available to all SongwriterLink accounts. It’s where you store drafts, capture ideas, and develop your work long before it’s ready for the world.
Free accounts can save up to 5 private drafts. Members (£25/year) get unlimited drafts, plus folders, version history, and PDF export.
Everything in The Vault is completely private — only you can see it.
Can anyone else see what’s in my Vault?
No. Your Vault is entirely private. Other members, visitors, and site staff cannot see your drafts, ideas, or folder structure. It is your workspace alone.
What’s the difference between a Vault draft and a published lyric?
A published lyric is live on SongwriterLink and visible to anyone who visits the site. A Vault draft is private and exists only in your workspace.
You can publish a draft at any time, but you’re never obliged to. Many writers use The Vault to store work they want to keep private indefinitely.
Does The Vault save my work automatically?
Yes. While you’re editing a draft, The Vault auto-saves every 60 seconds. You can also save manually at any time. Version history means you can always go back to an earlier version if you change your mind.
Can I export my Vault contents?
Yes. You can export individual drafts, entire folders, or your full catalogue as a PDF — formatted cleanly and timestamped with your name. A plain text export is also available.
What happens to my Vault if I cancel my membership?
Your account reverts to the free tier. Your existing drafts are retained for 90 days — rejoin within that period and everything will be exactly as you left it. After 90 days, drafts above the free-account limit are permanently deleted.
Your published lyrics remain visible on your public profile regardless. We recommend exporting your work before cancelling if you have more than 5 drafts.
