Trigger Warning: This piece deals with suicidal thoughts and is written
with compassion for those who cope with and survive this struggle.
You ask what brought me here,
And why am I crying?
Well, I thank you for trying,
For talking to me.
But if you truly can't surmise,
Let's say there must be,
Some sand in my eyes.
Yes, I may have sand in my eyes,
But I'm seeing things clearly.
Hey, I'm not lying,
You'll never catch me crying.
And I don't need you to overanalyse,
What is just sand in my eyes.
You should know before I go,
My standing high on this ledge,
Has brought me to the edge,
Of saying all my goodbyes.
But it's hard as this damn wind,
Has put sand in my eyes.
Yes, I may have sand in my eyes,
But I'm seeing things clearly.
Hey, I'm not lying,
You'll never catch me crying.
And I don't need you to overanalyse,
What is just sand in my eyes.
Thank you for listening.
We could go another round.
But you talking me down,
Is honestly the first time,
I have felt up in a long time.
It meant a lot to me.
And for all that this implies,
What you got to see,
Was not because of sand in my eyes.
Yes, I lied about sand in my eyes,
But I'm seeing things clearly.
Hey, I'm not lying.
I need some time to realise,
There never was sand in my eyes.
I need some time to realise,
There never was…
There never was…
There never was sand in my eyes.
