For our first-ever webinar on January 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. EST, we’ve joined forces with Los Angeles-based pop songwriting team Benjamin Samama and Charlie Snyder to offer aspiring songwriters a rare firsthand look at the inner workings of a professional co-writing session.
During the webinar, viewers will have the opportunity to witness a live co-write in action, learn tips and best practices directly from the songwriters as they collaborate, and get questions about the collaboration process answered.
“The best way to learn songwriting is the ‘sink-or-swim’ approach,” says Samama, a former assistant professor of songwriting at Berklee College of Music who’s sold over 100 songs. “Co-writing with and learning from like-minded people will boost your skills and understanding of the art form.”
“In this webinar, we’ll give you insight as to how the hits you hear on the radio are written,” adds Snyder, who’s had placements on Mike Stud’s album, Closer, which debuted at #1 on the iTunes album charts and Billboard hip-hop charts, and wrote the title theme for Emeril Lagasse’s TNT series, On the Menu.
“Ben and Charlie are not only an incredibly talented and experienced songwriting duo, but they both have a strong passion for educating budding songwriters,” says Lisa Occhino, founder of SongwriterLink and first place winner of the BMI Foundation’s 2012 John Lennon Scholarship, a national songwriting competition. “We couldn’t think of anyone better suited to demonstrate how to make collaborations more productive and the resulting songs better.”
